How we choose what goes on the lawn
We built this catalogue around a single Saturday. The morning belongs to the lawn: two bumper balls come out of the bag, somebody works the pump, and the grass takes a beating for an hour. The afternoon moves to water, where a float with a cup holder is the only furniture anyone needs. The evening goes quiet, and a satin robe does the rest.
Those three moods are why the shelves below look so different from each other. It is one brand, but it makes heavy vinyl toys and lightweight sleepwear with equal seriousness, and we would rather show you the whole range than pretend half of it does not exist.
Bumper balls are the heart of this brand, so we start there. The sizes run 24, 36 and 48 inches, and the choice is less about age than about room. Two kids in 24 inch shells play in a modest backyard; the same pair in bigger 36 inch shells needs a park.
Every shell arrives flat, which is the part people forget. An electric pump turns a bumper ball into a toy in about four minutes; a foot pump takes fifteen and two people. The first inflate is where a good afternoon either starts or stalls.
Fit matters as much as size. The shoulder straps adjust on every pair we list, and the inside handles keep a smaller player upright after a hit. From seven up, most children carry a 24 inch shell through a full game, and that is the quiet test we use for all ages.
The water shelf follows the same logic. A float is judged by what it does when you stop paying attention: mesh seat, cup holder, air still there in the morning. Robes are judged on whether the satin stays cool after three washes.
What we do not do is pad the catalogue. A listing from a reseller, or one that cannot be bought today, is left out — so the sizes and the air requirements behind these activities are spelled out before you spend anything.
Who this is for, and what we will not tell you
People arrive here from three directions. Somebody is planning lawn activities and wants the sizes of bumper balls that fit the ages in the garden. Somebody wants a robe for a wedding morning. A third person wants a float that holds air until September.
What we can tell you is the size, the price and what the listing says. What we cannot tell you is how a thing feels in your hands. There is no chat assistant in the corner of this page pretending otherwise — the button takes you to the listing, where the seller answers.
Our standards for a shelf are short. Brand-made rather than resold under the name, a live price in the store feed, and a place in one of the five groups below. Anything failing one of the three is left out, however much fun it would have been.
Sizes are what people get wrong most: a ball bigger than the lawn, a robe ordered down because the photograph flattered it. Every page prints the range the listing offers. Play is supposed to be easy; the measuring takes a minute.
Questions people ask before the first game
What are those big inflatable balls called?
Most of the world calls them bumper balls. You will also see zorb balls, sumo balls, body bumpers and bubble balls on the same shelf, and in the 24 to 48 inch range they all mean the same thing: a wearable vinyl shell with shoulder straps and two inside handles.
Which size should I buy first?
Buy for the space, not the age. A 24 inch pair suits a normal backyard and children from about seven. A 36 inch pair wants a park or a long lawn. The 48 inch shells are adult gear and need room to fall over safely in every direction.
How long does the first inflate take?
Four to five minutes per shell with an electric pump, around fifteen with a foot pump. The air settles overnight, so plan to top the shells up before the second session rather than during it.
Can I use any of this indoors?
The small seat cushions, yes. The bumper balls, no. They need a soft surface and a clear perimeter, which in practice means grass, sand or a padded gym floor.
